Media institution: A media institution is an institution that produces media, e.g. RTE, BBC, LIONSGATE etc. These media institutions have their own set of Ideologies; these are the ways of which a media institution would go about the way they produce media in the most effective way. These ideologies vary from institution to institution.
Genre: A genre is the type of what the e.g film /TV is. A film might be in the horror genre or a TV show might be in the comedy or thriller genre.
Representation: This is how the media represents a certain group of people and reflects it on the source of media e.g advertising. Advertising uses representation to appeal to certain audiences and to make it effective as so that the audience will buy said product.
Audience: The audience are the people who are affected by the media. They are the ones who are targeted by the media. Different products (films and TV included) are targeted towards a certain audience. Media outlets must make sure they do this in the most effective and appealing manner for their target audiences as to ensure consumption of said products.
